During this maintenance window, we will update the Operating System of the VM that is responsible to configure the Route Servers. Moreover, our configuration pipeline will be updated with a new Debian package, which brings some changes on the way we name the IPv6 sessions on Bird2. Because of these changes, the IPv6 BGP sessions need to be recreated and customers will notice a short flap.

During the upgrade process, customers who hold IPv6 BGP sessions with the RS will NOT experience BGP flaps simultaneously and thus, the service is expected to be up and running all the time.

While a 4h maintenance window is reserved for this task, we are expecting to conclude the maintenance in less time.

Resolved - The Route Server 2 has been migrated to the VMC01 and BGP sessions have been restored at 02:02 IST. We have been monitoring the sessions and they have remained stable. The incident has been resolved.

We are working on the restoration of connection of VMC02 for redundancy. Once restored, we will schedule a maintenance to migrate the server to VMC02.

Resolved - On 30 June 2026 at 01:39 multiple line cards on one of our Juniper MX chassis unexpectedly rebooted. Customer and backbone links on those line cards were affected. At ~01:55 we observed that the links had recovered and route server BGP sessions of the affected customers had re-established. Total observed downtime of ~16 minutes.

Scheduled - We would like to announce a scheduled maintenance window to re-seat line card 3 on stub-nik-250 at Nikhef. This action is planned to reset the state of the line card following a recently observed non-service-affecting hardware issue, after vendors recommendation.

Following steps will be performed:

Step 1: On June 25th at 04:00:00 CEST, AMS-IX NOC will swap all customer connections from PE router stub-nik-250 to PE router stub-nik-350.

Step 2: On June 25th at 05:00 CEST, AMS-IX field engineer will be on-site at Nikhef to perform a physical re-seat of line card 3 on stub-nik-250.

Step 3: AMS-IX NOC will confirm that the line card is up and running.

Step 4: AMS-IX NOC will load-balance line card 3 customers between both PEs, stub-nik-350 and stub-nik-250.

Step 5: AMS-IX NOC will confirm customers services.

Swaps are performed by our photonic switches and take less than 20ms. However, if LACP is used on a PE-CE link, the time necessary to bring the LAG interface up will depend on the LACP partnership negotiation process.

Resolved - The root cause of this incident was a certificate chain issue that affected outbound email delivery. Our initial investigation suggested the add-on service was responsible but we have since confirmed it was not the cause. The issue has been resolved and all services are operating normally.
